ODG192 : Mati Pirsztuk / Mitternacht

ODG192 : Mati Pirsztuk / Mitternacht

About the album, Mati says:

"The landscape around us changes every time, but the soundscape remains intact. We can feel it, hear it; but we can’t see it.
This record managed to capture the parallel spectrum that happens at midnight (or Mitternacht, in German) when everyone is sleeping. And others... just existing.
I recorded the songs in different spaces such as animal biopark, the exact spot of the Highway where I was hitted by a bus ten years ago and almost died (only unconscious for a lapse of time) and my studio."

Tracks 2 & 4 recorded at Temaiken Biopark, Feb 2024.
Track 3 & 6 recorded at General Paz Highway, Dec 2023.
Tracks 1 & 5 recorded at Elektrisch Flamingo Studios, Jan-Feb 2024.
All tracks recorded, performed & mixed by Mati Pirsztuk.
Recorded between 2023 & 2024 using contact microphones, power electronics, synthesizer and olympus voice recorder.
Artwork by Lady Von.
Mastered at Elektrisch Flamingo Studios, Mar 2024.

Cover art by A.L.

ODG186-OJP075 : Alinovsky - Tetsuroh Konishi / Hypnotic

The new album was composed with an idea of perpetual slow variations in the backing electronics, giving a sense of hypnosis in the music.

Tetsuroh San added his magical trumpets to give the album another ethereal dimension.

Even in the more 'rhythmic' tracks, the base stays 'un' evolving.
Track number 5 which gives the title of the album was the starting point for the rest of the songs.
You can find a 16 minutes version on the single 'Tantric' released on ODG185-OJP074.

OUI029 : We Will Intersect / Fragments

OUI029 : We Will Intersect / Fragments

Australian improvisational “supergroup” We Will Intersect are proud to release Fragments, the follow up to their 2023 self-titled album (see also OCD053). Fragments features the quartet’s trademark electro-acoustic post-jazz improvisation, and masterful editing and production in a concise four-track release.

We Will Intersect is co-led by Adrian Lim-Klumpes, celebrated Australian pianist and mastermind behind some of Australia’s most original instrumental groups Triosk and Tangents, as well sensational young Australian trumpeter and sound artist Nick Calligeros (Microfiche, SOFT SPOT). Co-leaders Adrian and Nick met 16 years earlier as music tutor and student, respectively, and have gone on to forge a strong musical relationship including this group. The group also features both drummer & producer Nick Meredith (KCIN), who from a single drum rigged up to his laptop, is able to achieve an entire palette of otherworldly sounds, and versatile jazz drummer Miles Thomas.

The four tracks of Fragments are short excerpts cut from an extended hour-long recorded improvisation that leads the listener through a masterfully constructed journey traversing multiple sound-worlds towards a cathartic conclusion.

Lim-Klumpes and Calligeros creatively edited each excerpt, constructing four distinctive and captivating sound-worlds. The first three tracks feature relatively restrained, experimentally-tinged soundscapes scattered with electronics and treated instruments, while the final track centres round a raw and impassioned trumpet solo over highly-compressed and gated drums and a ghostly piano track.

Nick says: “This new record highlights the development of the group’s sound, not only in terms of strengthening ideas around group improvisation, but in terms of our post-production. The sound-worlds feel richer due to the additional creative editing and processing we experimented with on this record.”

OUI026 : BULLIPHANT / Sleep

OUI026: BULLIPHANT / Sleep

Sometimes they play with the punch of a quick-tempered bull, other times theysound like a spacey group of kind elephants.
Caused by its name and cutting-edge interaction, Bulliphant sets a strong image of natural phenomena.
This is how the music of their debut album 'Hightailing' came to life.

For its new album 'SLEEP', Bulliphant draws inspiration from the experiences of body and mind during different stages of sleep.
That's the initial spark for Ruben's compositions; the rest unfolds through imagination, interplay, and improvisation.

Goya's statement “The sleep of reason produces monsters”, resonates strikingly within this context.

Ruben Verbruggen: saxophones
Thijs Troch: piano & electronics
